I have come across a small, but unique group of very discerning individuals,
scattered around the World, who are seeking out just a little more than
plain common sense quality, craftsmanship and value for money when it comes
to their saddles.
Yes,
these men and women are looking for a lot more than this when it comes
to their sense of style, horses, their way of life and, most importantly,
their saddles. Their most important criteria when it comes to this area
is not money – and by that I do not mean they necessarily have money to
burn or waste on the tasteless frivolities of life – most important to
these discerning people are all the factors and qualities that go into
any quality product, and a great deal more!
As
far as these folk’s saddles go, they really are not the kind of products
that have been created in the last 50 years or so anywhere, and indeed
are really only found in museums and the like—up until now! Since the last
great saddle craftsman like Bohlin stopped producing their unique
works for the movies, very

buyers and collectors have paid $50,000 or more for a good replica of Roy
Rogers' famous saddle he used on Trigger and the movies they acted in for
example!
When
I first considered doing this for myself I did not really consider the
financial side to this project. I expected my range of custom made "saddles
of distinction" to be very expensive considering the additional work, as
well as there being a lot more silver, tack and saddle going into each
creation.
However,
because I can look at a World Wide market for my creations via the Internet
(as opposed to your normal saddle maker only satisfying a local market)
I was pleasantly surprised to find that these great saddles I wanted to
make were little more in price than many 'normal' saddles offered by others.
I
am now receiving many enquiries from a varied section of folks who just
want to have these unique saddles themselves. Some of these people are
very rich, like

Perot ~ His Father's old saddle
We are trying to find a Schoellkopf Jumbo (elephant logo) brown western basket weave saddle, very simple styling made in the 1930's for Ross Perot and this was the saddle his Dad used. The original saddle was sold between 1955 and 1960 in Texarkana, Texas. Any guidance on who to contact who just might have this saddle or possibly know who does, will be greatly appreciated. up grade 5/3/05 "basket weave" pattern. Thank you so kindly for your assistance.
